Organization: Happy News Mission Foundation Limited (also known as “Happy News Church”)
Effective Date: 6 June 2026
1. Our Commitment
Happy News Church (the "Church") is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of our members, visitors, and donors. We manage all personal data in accordance with the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486).
2. The Six Data Protection Principles (“DPP”)
DPP 1: Purpose and Manner of Collection
-
What we collect: We collect personal data necessary for Church administration, pastoral care, ministry participation, and processing donations. This may include (without limitation) names, contact details, and financial records.
-
Kids Ministry: We collect names, date of birth, emergency contact details and other details regarding allergies and any other additional needs for children in our Kids Ministry. This data is collected specifically for the safety and well-being of the children. Parental or guardian consent is required for the collection of data regarding minors.
-
Financial Data: Donations made via cash, PayPal, direct bank transfer or any other prescribed method to Happy News Mission Foundation Limited involve the collection of transaction records for accounting and tax-receipting purposes.
DPP 2: Accuracy and Duration of Retention
-
We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal data we hold is accurate.
-
Personal data is kept only for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected (e.g., membership duration or statutory tax record periods). Hard-copy records that are no longer required will be securely shredded.
DPP 3: Use of Data
-
Personal data will only be used for the purposes for which it was collected (e.g., Church updates, tax receipts, or emergency contact in Kids Ministry) unless we obtain your express voluntary consent for a new purpose.
-
We do not use, share, sell, lease, transfer, disclose or trade your personal data to third parties except as may be required by any legal, statutory, regulatory or accounting requirements.
DPP 4: Data Security
-
Physical Security: As we do not use an online data collection platform, all physical forms and records are stored securely. Files are kept in a locked safe or a restricted private room at our premises (8/F, Posco Building, 165 Un Chau St, Sham Shui Po).
-
Access Control: Access to personal data is restricted to authorized church leadership and administrative staff on a "need-to-know" basis.
DPP 5: Openness and Transparency
-
This policy is available to all members and visitors. We are transparent about the types of data we hold and why we hold it.
DPP 6: Access and Correction
-
You have the right to request access to and correction of the personal data we hold about you.
